ALL ABOUT ME
After growing up in Oxfordshire I went to Trinity College, Carmarthen where I gained a B.Ed(Hons) in Music and Education from the University of Wales. During my first years of teaching I worked for my LTCL in Music Education.Shortly after moving to Penzance in 1993, I began to teach piano and recorder to adults and children. Since then I’ve worked with students of all ages in order to help them discover their full potential, while taking on an approach that focuses on patience and self-encouragement. Through my unique personalized teaching methods, my students are able to develop study habits and effective learning strategies that last. Music making is such a passion of mine it brings me joy to share this passion with my students. From day one, they learn important foundational techniques to help them boost their skills and self-esteem. Each one has a unique learning style; it’s my duty to find out what that is and adapt my lessons accordingly. As well as teaching, I enjoy choral singing and playing the recorder with others. I have been Chair of Cornwall Branch of the Society of Recorder Players, sometimes conducting and arranging music for the group. I have also played in an Early Music Consort which has given many public performances. Here I played renaissance woodwind - the cortal - as well as recorder and classical guitar. Musicals composed by me have been performed by primary schools in which I have taught. Currently I am a member of the Taizettes instrumental group who lead the music for Taize services in churches. Apart from music, I love animals (especially cats and hamsters) enjoy swimming, keeping fit, and running - I have raised money for charities by running in fun runs and two half-marathons. My greatest joy is watching students succeed and unlock their own potential. Contact me today to learn how I can help you achieve your goals.
